Wuxi is much less populated than Beijing, no traffic jam (as of 2012). The air is really clean and rains a lot, maybe more than Seattle, WA :) It has many rivers and beauiful lakes, the biggest one is Lake Hu (Tai Hu). Really big, you can't see the edges. If you'd like to visit Wuxi parks, get a pass.  You can visit the parks as often as you want for a year. To buy a single ticket is quite pricey otherwise (as of Jan 2010).

Grand Canal

Wu Xi has has the historic grand canal passes trough it, yes all the way to Beijing in the North and all the way to the South. It's still used up to this day (Jan 2010).

Wuxi has many canals and rivers. The grand canal is just one of them...

Wuxi is located in the southern China, Jiang Su Province. It takes 13 hours to travel from Beijing by car. We used Jing Hu expressway (BJ - Tian Jin - He Bei - Shan Dong - Jiang Su) 

! Wuxi has many international schools, at least 3 big ones (as of 2010).

Li Yuan

Once the home of minister Li (范蠡) with his lover Xi Shi (西施, one of the great beauties in ancient China). In the past, there's a war between state Yue and Wu. Initialy Wu was winning. State Yue planned to weaken the king by sending Xi Shi, a very beautiful woman. Minister Li took her to the king of state Wu. Xi Shi charmed the king so much that he was totally under her spell, the king started to neglect the state affairs, created enemies and the state thus became weak. Then Yue attacked Wu, and won. Minister Li later resigned and lived with Xi Shi.

The scenary is outstanding. You can see the giant wheel in the background.  One can boat too, one of the boats has a game: a sniper, if you shoot the frog/flower etc right, water will spray out.

The Giant Wheel

The day was cloudy, the shot is not too good, but at least one get the idea how big the wheel is. One rotation takes about 20 minutes. When the day is clear, you can see the city underneath with all lights at night. Very nice. This picture was taken from miles away.

Turtle Head Island - 鼋头渚

Very beautiful scenary. Tons of things to do and see, below are just very few samples, far from being able to depict the place. Try the free ferry, you can pay too for private occasion. One can bike, boat, and many other activities.

Hui Shan National Park (Xi Hui Park)

Beatiful park with many activities and historical sites. There are hundred of years old temples, park, garden, current (modern time) water world to have fun. There are alleys with sellers mimicking the past. We can boat in a lake, hike, and more. The park has a fun and long cable car connecting two hills with superb view. One can ride a car to get overview of the park too. The second water spring under Heaven from Tang dynasti is also there and the water is still flowing trough the pond and the canals.

Jiang Su Wu Xi Toy Animation Museum

A small museum which has many stuffs from cartoon TV series. Yes, it has Superman, Batman, Xi Yang Yang, Sun Wu Kong.... Small thing but fun for kids, it has cinema, food, lots of TV's, drawing in the computer/painting, etc. My kids love it so much.
