Mei Yuan (梅园）- in Wuxi

Beautiful park in Wuxi. Lots of plants, water, mountain, interesting history of the park, greenhouse, and a fun small entertainment park.

Beidaihe (北戴河）- in Hebei Province

A great beach close to Beijing. A great seaside with great waterfront, sea food, shopping, fun activities... One can rent a bike or a boat too.

3.5hrs drive from Beijing with great (historical) tour sites on the way like the East starting point of the great wall, temples,etc.

Yufudao (Fan Li Island) 渔父岛 - in Wuxi

Wuxi has many many parks, some are very expensive unless one has the yearly pass.  Yufudao is a unique park which is free and super beautiful. It's connected with many other parks. It has water (lake), beach (lake beach with sand just like ocean beach), little woods, beautiful bridge, history, mountains, etc. It's totally a great park. One of my favorites!

It's dedicated to their father of fishery, Fan Li.

Mutianyu Great Wall (慕田峪) - in Beijing

Located about 1.5 hours from Beijing without traffic jam. From the foot of the mountain, one can hike or ride a cart to the great wall.  

Along the sides of the road to the great wall there are restaurants offering fresh fish, fresh fruit, egg sellers and more. Fun.
