Like my other China expats friends, initially, I really didn't like to watch TV here. But gradually I start to like it. I start to enjoy the TV series 电视剧 and listen to Chinese songs. I don't watch many, but here are some that I really like.

You don't need to pay to watch TV series or movies. Watch it free online! Type in the title in search engine like baidu, say.Watching TV is a great way to learn Chinese for all expats in China :) Especially the cartoon films for kids since the Chinese is not that difficult.

This film is made 3x. I like 1982 version the best.

They have earlier version. But I like this one.宫-The Palace

The story is about a woman who traveled in time to Qing dynasti era. Romance, but really exciting.西游记-Journey to the West

Excellent tv series for kids with lots of kung fu and some background story about the 12 animals in Chinese zodiac, why the firework tradition in new year's eve, etc. Very exciting.For KIDS: Pleasant Goats and wolf 喜洋洋与灰太狼
Was aired for several years on TV (as of 2011). Really fun. Lots of fun.
